Start your day with a savoury twist! This Cheese & Vegemite scroll recipe is quick, easy, and made perfectly crispy in the Cuisinart Air Fryer. Whether you’re packing school lunches, prepping breakfast, or looking for a savoury snack, these scrolls deliver every time. With minimal prep and the efficiency of the air fryer, this recipe is a time-saving winner for busy families. Perfect for those who want healthy, homemade options without the fuss.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups (300g) self-raising flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water
  • 2 tbsp (40g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp Vegemite (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp milk (for brushing)

METHOD

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and salt. Gradually mix in the milk, water, and melted butter until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
  • Roll the dough out into a rectangle approximately 30cm x 20cm. Spread the Vegemite evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the Vegemite.
  • Starting from one of the long edges, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  • Slice the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife.
  • Lightly grease the cooking basket of your Cuisinart Air Crisp Pro.
  • Arrange the scrolls in the basket, leaving a little space between each one to allow for expansion.
  • Brush the tops of the scrolls lightly with milk for a golden finish.
  • Set the air fryer to  Air Fry - 180°C
  • Cook the scrolls for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Allow the scrolls to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature and make a perfect addition to a back-to-school lunchbox!
